Why a Blog?

It’s been nearly 30 years now that I’ve been working professionally in photography. The first camera I ever got my hands on was a “Pocket” when I was about 10 years old. I remember it very well. The sound of the shutter clicking made me imagine I was a secret agent photographing classified documents. Later, when I was maybe 12, I found a Zenith with a 50mm lens among my father’s belongings. No light meter, 39mm thread. That one really looked like a camera. The kind of cameras photojournalists carried with them on dangerous assignments around the world. Back then, becoming a photographer was my dream—the same way others dreamed of becoming astronauts. Endless adventure.

Why a blog? I’ve been taking photos for most of my life. And for the majority of that time, professionally. Now I’m thinking to myself: I can write a blog. Why not? Whether anyone reads it or not, we’ll see…

Photography has been a part of my life for over 35 years—as a profession, a passion, and a way of life.
I live and work in Kaufbeuren/Bavaria, and Genoa/Liguria, where light and encounters inspire me again and again.
My pictures are about authenticity, atmosphere, and the moment in between when stories emerge.
